David Sylvian is one of my favorite vocalists. He sang a war song with verses.
David Sylvian is the former leader of japn
David Sylvian is the leader and vocalist of the British rock band japn. I guess it’s the beginning of visual kei. For the time being, I wonder if his bisexual smell like a woman with make-up is like that. When japan came out, he played the famous song “Red Guitar” and Mick Karn studied fretless bass by himself.
The fretless bass is played by Jacopas with Joni Mitchell’s backing, and the electric no-fret bass is more interesting than the wood-based no-fret bass. Once, I played the bass and let it roll with the delay, and then I put the bass on top of that. I think it became relatively easy to put sound on top, but it was rare at the time. That’s how he made Mick Karn’s no-flavored base taste good. I didn’t know much about Japan.
The sound after the breakup is interesting
When japn disbanded and David Sylvian started his solo career, it was quite a favorite vocal. Originally, I liked Bryan Ferry and others, so it’s natural to like him because he’s a vocalist with the same tendency, but David Sylvian’s voice is a little hoarse, and his vibrato is better than Bryan Ferry’s. I don’t think there’s a lot of voices, so it’s like that, both of them have low voices. I tend to think that vocals have to be high pitched, but even if it’s low pitched, it would be nice if it had this much personality. Even if he has a high voice, if he doesn’t have a personality, it sounds normal.
Do you care about ambient music?
After that, he moved towards environmental music and avant-garde music, and while collaborating with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Masami Tsuchiya, who he had known for a long time, his pop music was pop, and his jazz-like electric music had an interesting rhythm. Teru. When I first bought “Brilliant Trees” and listened to it, he thought it was the best and it fit him perfectly. After that, he was in the computer age, so you can listen to him as much as you want on youtube or whatever. I don’t care what you ask. His environment-like instrumental stuff is a little slow and makes me sleepy, but I like the one with the song.
Interesting collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto
I especially like the sound of “Bamboo House/Bamboo Music” with Sakamoto, and “Forbidden Colors” and “WORLD CITIZEN” are also good. In terms of looks, he’s already aged, so I don’t think he’ll look like the old japan era, but I think he has a decent appearance, but I like that he’s intelligent and gentlemanly. After all, British musicians have similar sensibilities, and I end up liking them, but… that’s right.
