ポールマッカートニーのベースがすごい！歌いながら弾けないぐらいのスケールでしょ。

■いってみよう！band on the run

ずいぶん昔に、ビートルズが解散して「ウィングス」が生まれた。ポールのバンドで”ポールマッカトニー＆ウィングス”って感じだったか、そんな感じで　友達がこのレコードがいいっていって　なぜかその頃は音楽鑑賞部みたいなものに入っていて　部員は2人！　そんな感じだったか。とりあえずは、このレコード「バンドオンザラン」って曲を聞いて　これいいやんって感じで。それまではビートルズってあまり興味がなかったっていうか　こちらから聞かなくても　どっかで聞こえてくるってイメージだったので　わざわざ聴きに行かなくってもって感じだった。それにレコードだって　コンサートだって　その旅費でさえも高い時代だったので　よほど金持ちのお宅の子でないと　っそんなにお金は使えないって感じだった。とりあえず、友達に紹介されたポールのウィングスのアルバムがほとんどんの曲がよかった。「ジェット」とか「ブルーバード」とかなんですけど　やっぱ、極めつけは「バンドオンザラン」ですが。

ビートルズを聞きなおしてみるとやっぱよかった。

■後期のビートルズ

それで　そっからさかのぼって　やっぱ、ビートルズってすごいんだろうと思って　ビートルズも聞くようになった。何がすごいって　ポールがベースを弾きながら歌を歌う、そのベースのスケールというか　ルートというかラインというか　こんなベースを弾きながら　歌を歌える？って　これがミュージシャンたる所以ですか。

そうかそうか、って感じで納得！それで割とそんなことを意識しながら　ギターを弾き出した。ベースは難しいが　アコギぐらいならと思って　練習しましたね、いまだに納得いくことはないですが、ただ、歌とギターのハーモニーの幅が広がった。これがいい！メロディーとギターのコード進行や、ギターの一音一音の運びにあと、テンポ、それとメロディーとの開きを結構、極端につくって　そのハーモニーがいいものを考えていくっていう作業が面白い。クラシックではないので　そんな込み入っためっちゃ難しいものでもなく　でもやっぱ　ポールの場合はクラシックやってたってぐらい　ギターもうまいしメロディーも結構　クラシカルな感じで　やっぱビートルズはすごい。また、ジョンがロックンロールのスケールで弾いて　ポールがベースを弾いて2人がハモったりすると　さすがに音楽やってる人って感じです。

日本公演も大盛況です。

■ウィングス

そんなポールですが、70歳過ぎても　同じ音楽の感性で　ずっと、昔やったこともいまだに出来るし、音楽的にはビートルズの印象がきつすぎて　最近出した曲なんぞは全然売れず、話題になるだけで　やっぱビートルズ時代　ウィングス時代の曲で　コンサートをやっている。

■ポール　日本公演

最近　ポールの日本公演がありましたが、日本ですからポールもあまりやる気がなかったんでしょう、そこをプロモーターっていうですか？交渉する人が口説きに口説いて　ついに日本公演やってしまいました。そうすっと老若男女問わず　大盛況で　ポールもさど儲かったんでしょう、これに味をしめて　追加やります、今年も日本行きます、最近結婚したのでお金が要りますって　何回くんねんってほど日本公演やってます。初めの大阪は見に行きましたが、来るたびに”チケットどうですか？メール”がきますがもう結構です。やる曲はほとんど昔の曲で　ファンもそれを聞きたい　進歩したくてもできなさそうなポールがちょっとかわいそうですが、世の中　売れたくても売れないミュージシャンといわれる方が山ほどいて　一曲だけでもうれてね！って時代に　ヒット曲が多すぎて　こんな曲作ったっけって言うほどのポールは最高ですが、その域を脱しないって　うらやましい話です。

それにしても、いまだにやっぱミュージシャンっていうのはポールのようなギターやキーボード　やってほしいですね。

■Don’t Let Me Down

表現すればいいので楽器を無理にやる必要はないとは思いますが。最近はパソコンで音を打ち込みで　トラックをなんこか羅列すれば音楽できますから　それでもいいでしょうけど　でも希望的にはアナログで最高いい音出していただくほうが　納得するんで。そのへんは役割分担か。でも、クラシックみたく　楽器の音の構成ではなく、庶民的な人間の声で歌う歌のことなので　良い声と良い楽器のハーモニーが聞きたいのが基本なので　弾き語りをするミュージシャンって　ポールみたくやってほしいのが希望です。ん～いいね　やっぱ、ポールマッカートニーは。

I went to see Osaka at the beginning, but every time I come, I get an email asking, “How about tickets?” Most of the songs he plays are old songs, and his fans want to hear them, too. But you got it! In that era, he had so many hit songs that he made such a song.

I feel like a musician at the level of Paul

Even so, I still want musicians to play guitars and keyboards like Paul.

I don’t think it’s necessary to force yourself to play an instrument as long as you can express yourself. These days, he can record sounds on a computer and he can make music by arranging some tracks, so that’s fine, but I’d prefer to have him produce the best analog sounds. Is there a division of roles?
